3.8 Lord of the Pi's

Veronica: "Ah. The incredible, inedible egg."

I found this ep mildly confusing. Who exactly did what to whom?

Yeah, I got most of it. The kidnapping of Selma Hearst Rose (played by the real Patty Hearst, very funny) wasn't kidnapping at all -- it was blackmail. Claire's rape wasn't a rape -- it was revenge for what happened to Patrice Pitrelli. Not surprising that the Theta Betas were doing that despicable secret room thing, after all.

Patrice walked off the roof because the Pi Sigs and Theta Betas emotionally pushed her over the edge. Which is why Claire faked her rape, to frame them. But who, er, egged Chip? The Pi Sig number contest still has to have something to do with the Hearst rapist.

Logan's face when he actually watched Veronica ignoring his phone call was outright painful. Why is Veronica freezing Logan out? Was it the bodyguard on top of everything else? She knows him, though. He's lost Lilly and his mother. Why was she surprised? Good freaking lord, Veronica, why didn't you just take Logan to the library with you? What does he have to do to get through to her? Turn into Duncan?

Veronica didn't want her father to know she was in danger, either. Veronica, why do you do this to yourself? At least it was fun seeing Keith and Veronica working together again, and even exchanging joyous PI cliches.

Bits and pieces:

-- Nish's replacement at the paper (Wilson?) was quite smarmy. At least Veronica was back taking photos.

-- Loved Veronica doing Martrina Vasquez, anchor on channel nine. What I liked even more was that when Keith picked up the phone and Sheriff Lamb realized who it was, Veronica didn't even pause; she just kept asking him questions as if nothing had happened. She has no shame.

-- Patty Hearst did decide in the end to shut the Greeks down. They won't be happy about that.

-- The divorce blackmail was because of the ten year 50/50 split. There were rumors that that was why Tom Cruise ditched Nicole Kidman.

-- Dick's use of the nonexistent word "repungent". :) Repugnant and pungent. Loved it.

-- The numbers in the egg were 111 CXI (111) and CMIII (903). It meant 11/19/2003. That seemed too easy to me.

-- Patrice is now in a mental institution. Unless she's the rapist.

-- In this week's hair report, Veronica's was straight again (and better) because she was hiding the shaved patch from her father. And we got several interesting Veronica do's intended to keep that patch secret.

Quotes:

Veronica: "I'm off to steal the souls of the rich with my evil image-capturing device."

Dean O'Dell: "Look, the sheriff is an idiot. I've met smarter sandwiches."

Veronica: "Worst easter egg hunt ever."

Nose-ringed Fern: "Why are you following me around?"
Veronica: "Fulfilling my gym requirement. Yoga had a written final."

Veronica: "When you stick an easter egg in a frat boy's out door, do you kiss him first?"
Fern: "Is that a riddle?"
Veronica: "Poor Chip. You really wrecked 'im."

Hallie the amoral dogwalker: "You don't know the first thing about me, Veronica."
Veronica: "I know, like, eight, possibly nine things. But you're right. I have no idea which one is first."

Hallie: "God, what's with all the questions? Do you want to know where I buried Jimmy Hoffman?"
Veronica: "Dustin's brother?"

Keith: "This is my daughter, Veronica. She works with me. Occasionally."
Veronica: (gesturing) "Ryan. Tatum. When he gets in a jam, I make with the cute."

Selma Rose (or actually, Patty Hearst): "Have you ever been a walking punchline, Mr. Mars? I mean, on a national scale. Because I have been, and I've spent the rest of my life trying to earn back a certain measure of respect."

Logan: "You know who I am, and you're constantly expecting me to change. Even now as you're thinking, crap, he has a point, you still think you're ultimately right."

Two and a half out of four stars,

Billie
