1.9 Rogue

Jonathan: "I don't think a rational adult drops a generator on a teenaged boy. Do you?"

This one addressed several major Superman issues: a dirty cop seeing him do something impossible, using that knowledge to blackmail Clark into doing his bidding, and Clark losing his temper as well as control of himself. Of course, in the end, Phelan died and it wasn't Clark's fault. Re-set button, anyone?

Lex was trying so hard to help Clark and be his friend, and at the same time, he was also deeply and dangerously curious about Clark. This is one of the more interesting Smallville subplots, as far as I'm concerned. Here, Lex got cozy with Victoria Hardwicke, daughter of Sir Harry, who appeared to be a lot like Lionel. (Harry, not Victoria.) Victoria worked for her powerful father, but deeply resented him. In other words, she was a female Lex.

Bits and pieces:

-- Chloe was fired as editor of the Torch, and Lana took her place. Really. At least Lana's heart was in the right place.

-- We had yet another wrecked vehicle. This time, they went big: it was a bus.

-- I didn't know Alexander the Great wore a big S on his chest. Live and learn. (I'm kidding.)

-- Phelan said to Clark, "You might be strong, but you're not bullet-proof." Wrong. But does Clark know that? He dodged the bullet instead of stopping it.

Two and a half stars?
