Eureka (2006-present) is the story of Jack Carter, a U.S. Marshal who accidentally gets stranded in a small Oregon town that houses a top secret government research facility in which the best and brightest scientific minds push the boundaries of human understanding. After unwittingly becoming the town sheriff, Carter must protect Eureka from itself, finding clever new ways to avert disaster when cutting edge science invariably goes awry. A spiritual descendant of Northern Exposure (by way of The X-Files), Eureka features quirky and endearing characters and disaster-of-the-week plots that are often a funny romp, but can also be quite dark or poignant.
