4.8 Habeas Corpses

Fred: "What demony thing?"
Lorne: "Oh, I believe he's referring to the big, bad and possibly invincible demony thing that nearly killed us all before he ringmastered tonight's Cirque de Flambe."

I think it's safe to say the Wolfram & Hart is not the safest place to be during an apocalypse.

This episode reminded me of the old joke: What do you call a hundred lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? (A good start.) Can even the strongest of diabolical law firms with connections to powers in Hell survive having all its employees turned into zombies? And how much higher will the body count get? There are already way more bodies in pieces than we usually have turning up in L.A.

Angel threw Cordelia out! How cool was that? I'm certainly all for it. Come on -- Cordelia thinks the guy who sank Angel to the bottom of the ocean is a sweetie pie? Connor may have the beginnings of a relationship with Angel, but I still don't think of him as a good guy. And let's not forget that Connor was chasing, and unfortunately catching, the woman Angel loves. Couldn't they write Cordelia out until the end of the season, maybe?

The end of the world seems to have brought Fred and Gunn back together... but not if Wesley can help it. I'm sensing that Wesley has decided to pursue Fred, which is probably why he dumped Lilah. Right before the Beast took a piece out of her, if that's what It did.

So why did the "little girl" save them? She said that "the answer is among you." What answer?

Just one more thing... I have to quote this exchange, because it was just so funny:

Connor: "What's a zombie?"
Angel: "It's an undead thing."
Connor: "Like you?"
Angel: "No, zombies are slow-moving, dimwitted things that crave human flesh."
Connor: "Like you?"

Bits and pieces:

-- I liked the secret passageway in the closet full of toilet paper.

-- I loved Lorne looking hard at his martini glass when the gang arrived.

-- Lilah must actually love Wesley. Why else would she have told him that Connor was in the building? I also liked her point about black, white, and shades of grey, along with the "Come to think of it, she prefers black" comment about Fred.

-- Fred clearly does not know about Wesley's affair with Lilah.

-- I just noticed that Cordelia and Connor have basically the same hairstyle. This can't be good.

Quotes:

Lilah: "Gavin, ask yourself this question. What are you more afraid of? A giant murderous demon, or me?"

Wesley: "I can't do this anymore."
Lilah: "Yeah, yeah. I heard it a million times, cowboy. We both know how this song ends. You, me, broken furniture."

Wesley: "There is a line, Lilah. Black and white, good and evil."
Lilah: "Funny thing about black and white... you mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never going to get anything but gray. And I don't see your Texas gal-pal wearing that color. Come to think of it, she prefers black."

Lilah: "What are you stopping for?"
(Wesley holds up a grenade.)
Lilah: "You've got to be kidding me. Will it kill him?"
Wesley: "No, but it might distract him for a moment."

Angel: "Cordelia. I don't want you there. It's too dangerous. Way too dangerous. I can't risk it. Fred, get a move on."

Gunn: "What the hell was that?"
Wesley: "Zombies."
Gunn: "Yeah, thanks for the newsflash, Captain Obvious."

The Night of the Living Undead Lawyers was pretty cool. Plus it gets points just for its incredibly clever pun of a title. (The real one, not mine.)

Three out of four stakes,

Billie
