2.14 The Thin Dead Line

Cordelia: "You walked away. Do us a favor and just stay away."

This was a good enough episode, but I think it was a tad grim for me; I actually found the zombie cops and the siege on the homeless shelter to be somewhat unnerving. The issue of where law and order ends and where human rights begin is an important one, though, and writers deserve some credit for bringing it up -- although one can hardly dispute the fact that zombie cops are, well, bad.

Our three musketeers continued to bond; Gunn and Wesley even held hands for a good part of this episode. I liked the way Angel and the musketeers were working the same case but from different angles. Being alone all the time must be getting to Angel, though, if he's watching them from afar and showing up at the hospital to see Wesley.

Bits and pieces:

-- I actually liked Kate the cop in this episode. I especially liked the scene in the cemetery; that was touching. And I liked Anne, too.

-- Here's to Cordelia for telling Angel off. Somebody had to.

Quotes:

Cordelia: "Maybe we could buy one of those star maps, find out where Steven Seagal lives. (Gunn and Wesley give her a look) You're telling me he got to be a movie star without a little demonic assistance?"

Anne: "Well, I just thought I'd see how the other half lives (looks around) and strangely enough, it's not that different."
Cordelia: "We like to think of it as early American dilapidation."

Gunn: "I want you to roll the camcorder and wait for the cops to hassle us."
Anne: "How do you know they will?"
Gunn: "'Cause we'll be the ones walking while black."

Wesley: "You couldn't stop him?"
Cordelia: "Hello! Gunn, stubborn, synonyms?"
Wesley: "That can't be his plan, can it? I mean, it's really a dumb plan."
Cordelia: "Hey, Gunn graduated with a major in dumb planning from Angel University. He sat at the feet of the master and learned well how to plan dumbly."

Two out of four stakes. And next week, Darla returns. I can't wait,

Billie
